At Ploermel on September 13th, it was very hot… MAINVILLIERS ran the Grand Chase ridden by Charlotte Pritchard.
In the last turn around, in the far straight, he easily took the lead… but to finish he started to weaken, made a mistake at the last hurdle and finished 4th.
Coming back to the winners’ enclosure, he didn’t feel well, the vet interfered and MAINVILLIERS recuperated. Diagnosis: “he had a heat stroke”!
As Charlotte said “it was a pity for us as the horse was going so well!”
On the next day, he was all right… he ate well, drank well and was in better form.
