Etienne LEENDERS has been training race-horses in Maine et Loire (a French department in the west) since February 1981.

After passing an agricultural leaving certificate, Etienne chose to go abroad as a trainee, first to the training center of Lambourn (Great Britain) and then to Gestüt Ravensberg in Germany. Back to France, he worked for two years with the trainer Jean Couétil and then two years at Mme O’ Neill’s stud Haras de Sai.

In February 1981, he decided to take the plunge and to settle on his own account in the village of Tiercé (Maine et Loire) with three horses. He then met ALL READY who was meant to go to the butcher’s. He liked the horse and bought him. ALL READY became a crack horse and it was thanks to him that everything started!

Along the years, Etienne went up the scales and accumulated wins….up to the point of celebrating his 2000th win in February 2009 both on the flat and over jumps. Actually, if he is well known as a jump trainer, he is also very successful on the flat.

Then in 2014, Etienne and Christine had the opportunity to buy the estate of Les Landes: a private training center at Jarzé. This extraordinary tool will make their stables develop because the decision to buy was discussed with their two sons Grégoire and Gabriel who had just passed their trainer licenses and who also wanted to settle on these premises.

Gabriel decided to create his own enterprise while Grégoire wished to work in partnership with Etienne.

A new adventure was then starting…
